I was new to Amazon and Bitnami when I signed up for an Amazon Free Tier Account.
Unfortunately I had some issues FTPing my data to the Bitnami Ubuntu AMI HTdocs folder. I tried many variations on permissions and gave up in the end. The Bitnami Ubuntu Wordpress AMI did not seem to work well out of the box.
I then tried a Bitnami Red Hat AMI instead and had no problems FTPing to this. Permissions were fine. Unfortunately I did not realise that Amazon charge heavily for Red Hat AMI micro instance ($60 per month!). It was not obvious when launching the instance and not mentioned on the Bitnami site either unfortunately.
I want to swap my current Red Hat EBS Volume to a new Bitnami Ubuntu AMI. Is this possible? Will the files be in the right relative paths to 'just work'?
I'd really appreciate some pointers how to do this swiftly. Is it better just to FTP the HTDocs again and upload the Database again? The only thing which puts me off this is the hassle I had with permissions even after following all the guidelines on this site.
Many Thanks!
